DOF

A walk along the shores of Long Beach, California dreaming and
counting time for the summer to come so that I can start to travel again.
Where do I go?

Jan 29, 2011 0520 wake call from Denise to go out shooting. I just love break through days and this day was a successful day. I am working on new skills and using new tools to improve my skillset.
 -------------------------------------------------

Skill: Patience
Tool: Neutral Density Filters to extend my exposure time; outcome streaming clouds and silky milky seascapes.

The above image was shot at f18 10sec 19mm (w/o filter (1/20 of a sec) it would have been a quick exposure, capturing the moment as it happened @1/20 of a second opposed to capturing the scene for 10sec and capturing the waves as they come and go.

Just browsing through some images captured while on a trip to Boston, we (host-Doug, Anders and I) took a day trip to Plum Island, Massachusetts ( a small barrier island just off the extreme northeast coast of Massachusetts)

The beach was very beautiful from the car yet the photographic elements that lured me out of the warm and dry comforts with my camera was the muted blues in the skies and the seas along with the course brown grains of sands. I was cold yet I am happy that I did. It was a short term inconvenience for the long term memory with good friends.

On this day it was cold and dank with periodic rain that eventually turned torrential. Unfortunately for the residents on this island it created flooded roads, beach erosion and a few house lost to this erosion.

tip

While photographing during cold and wet weather, dress warmly
and protect yourself and your equipment from these elements.
If you know in advance of the weather conditions, bring all related gear
and error on the side of having rather that not having what you need.

Aural / Visual Pairing

"Beyond Here...." DB8S © 2010

While attending to my images, often I am listening to music, and normally the music is a reflection of the type of images I am attending to. If it is my minimalist work it is normally slow classical, new age, or even a mellow instrumental, however if it is busy urban work it ranges from in your face hip/hop to aggressive rock.

Stimulating my aural and my visual at the same time pleases me often and I try to do it daily.

Tonight, I found Imogen Heap-"Hide And Seek" the appropriate music for me with this image.
